Dedication and hardwork, the two key ingredients for cracking one of the toughest examinations of the country - the UPSC Civil Services Examinations. Komal Ganatra's tale of cracking the UPSC Civil Services examination is one such inspiration tale of determination of a Government teacher who decided to re-write her destiny. 
UPSC Civil Services is not easy to crack, It takes constant effort, hard work, dedication and a fair amount of luck as well. Komal Ganatra however managed it without much of anuthing. Personal battles aside, Komal had to fight the odds and the lack of resources. With no access to internet, English newspapers, laptops or smartphones, she fought on. Komal was married off to an NRI when she was only 26 years old. Her marriage did not last for more than two weeks. Her NRI husband abandoned her within 15 days of their marriage and flew off to New Zealand and never returned. After her repeated attempts to reach her husband, Komal was unable to track him down. She even wrote to the Parliament of New Zealand opposing the law where a wife is not allowed to meet her husband residing in another country. She even received a response from the President of New Zealand, but that was of no help.

It was then that she realized to build her own identity that will surpass her previous identity of being a wife. She appeared for UPSC Civil Services Exam and after a lot of hardships, in her third attempt in the year 2012, she cleared the examination. Komal Ganatra is now serving as the Administrative Officer in Ministry of Defence.

Komal started her career as a government teacher in a small village in Gujarat. She prepared for the examination without the help of the internet, smartphones, laptop or English newspaper. She traveled from her school to Ahmedabad every weekend to prepare for the exam. Not only this, for her UPSC Civil Services exam even she had to travel 300 km from Gujarat to Mumbai to appear for the examination.

And she did it, with hardwork and zeal and all the other things motivational speakers talk about. Truly, Komal's story makes one believe that if one will's it strong enough, the entire universe would conspire to ensure that you get your due.
