No one has a power to shatter your dreams unless you give it to them

One day the young Thomas Alva Edition came home and handed a paper to his mother from his school. He told her, "My teacher gave this paper to me and told me to give it only to you." His mother's eyes were tearful as she read the letter out loud to her son, "Your son is a genius. The school is too small for him and doesn't have good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself." After years, Edison's mother died and he was renowned as one of the greatest inventors of the century. One day he was going through his old family things. Suddenly, he noticed a folded paper in the corner of a drawer. He took it and opened it up. On the paper was written, "Your son is addled. We won't let him come to school anymore." Thomas Edison cried for hours and then he wrote in his diary: " Thomas Alva Edison was an addled child that, by a hero mother, became the genius of the century."

It is never late to start over

More than a decade ago, a man was reading his morning newspaper. To his surprise and horror, he read his name in the obituary column. The newspapers had mistakenly reported the death of the wrong person for sure. He was shocked to read news headline about his death. When he regained his composure, He read it to find out what people had said about him.  The obituary included sentences like, "Dynamite King Dies." and "He was the merchant of death." The man was the inventor of dynamite and when he read the words, 'merchant of death,' he asked himself a question. "Is this how am I going to be remembered?" he asked himself. He decided that this was not the way he wanted to be remembered and he decided to change. From that day on, he started working towards world peace. His name was Alfred Nobel and he is remembered today by the great Nobel prize, the greatest of all the prizes. The Nobel prize has been honoring men and women from all corners of

Presence of Mind

Once at an interview at a reputed business school, a panel of intelligent  Interviewers was taking interview of prospective students for admission in the school. When one of the prospective students entered the room and nervously sat on the chair in front of them, the panel said to the boy, “We shall either ask you ten easy questions or one really difficult question. Choose carefully as it will determine your admission to the school!” The boy thought for a while and answered, “I would like to answer one really difficult question.” “Well, good luck to you, you have made your choice! Now answer us. What comes first, Day or Night?” The boy was jolted into reality as his admission depended on the correctness of his answer to this single question, but he thought for a while and said, “It’s the day sir!” “How?” asked the interviewer. “Sorry sir, you assured me that I do not need to answer the second difficult question!” He was selected for admission.

Put your glass down

A professor entered his classroom with a glass of water. He raised  the glass of water. everyone in the room expected the: half entry or half full” question. Instead, to everyone’s surprise, the professor smiled and inquired: “ How heavy is this glass of water?”. The answers called out for the range from 8 Oz to 15 Oz. “ I need to weigh it to know how much exactly it weighs. But the question, I really want you to answer is – what if I held the glass up  for a minute?”, asked the professor. “ Nothing” the students answered unanimously. “ But what if I hold it for an hour?” asked the professor. “ Your arms will start aching “ , answered one of the students. “ You are right!, But what if I held it up for a whole day?”, queried the professor. “ Your arms will feel numb, your muscles get stressed and it may even get paralyzed” ventured an another student . “ You are right!”, exclaimed the professor. “ So what should I do to avoid the pain “ asked the professor. “ Keep th

Shine in your own way

A samurai who was known for his nobility and honesty, went to visit a monk to ask him for his advice. When the monk had finished his prayers, the Samurai asked, “Why do I feel so inferior? I have faced death many times, have defended those who are weak. Nevertheless, upon seeing you meditating, I felt that my life had absolutely no importance whatsoever.” “Wait. Once I have attended to all those who come to see me today, I shall answer you.” – replied the monk. The samurai spent the whole day sitting in the temple gardens, watching the people go in and out in search of advice. He saw how the monk received them all with the same patience and the same illuminated smile on his face. At nightfall, when everyone had gone, he demanded: “Now can you teach me?” The master invited him in and led him to his room. The full moon shone in the sky, and the atmosphere was one of profound tranquility. “Do you see the moon, how beautiful it is? It will cross the entire firmament, and tomo

If You try to please Everyone, You will end up pleasing No One

A man and his son were once going with their Donkey to market. As they were walking along by its side a countryman passed them and said : "You fool, what a Donkey for but to ride is upon?"  So the Man put the Boy on the Donkey and they went on their way. But soon they passed a group of men. One of whom said : "See that lazy youngster. He lets his father walk while he rides."  So the Man ordered his Boy to get off and got on himself. But they hadn't gone far when they passed two women. One of whom said to the other : "Shame on that lazy lout to let his poor little son trudge along."  Well the Man did not know what to do. But at last he took his Boy up before him on the Donkey. By this time they had come to the town and the passers-by began to jeer and point at them. The Man stopped and asked what they were scoffing at. The men said :  "Aren't you ashamed of yourself for overloading that poor Donkey of yours - you and your hulking son?"  T

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand! Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

Not all people who are bad by name are bad by nature

During Nelson Mandela's 19 years imprisoned on Robben Island, one particular commanding officer was the most brutal of them all: "A few days before Badenhorst's departure, I was called to the main office. General Steyn was visiting the island and wanted to know if we had any complaints. Badenhorst was there as I went through a list of demands. When I had finished, Badenhorst spoke to me directly. He told me he would be leaving the island and added: 'I just want to wish you people good luck'. I do not know if I looked dumbfounded, but I was amazed. He spoke these words like a human being and showed a side of himself we had never seen before. I thanked him for his good wishes and wished him luck in his endeavours. I thought about this moment for a long time afterwards. Badenhorst had perhaps been the most callous and barbaric commanding officer we had had on Robben Island. But that day in the office, he had revealed that that there was another side to h

Just reject as a poison

Image
This is one of my favorite inspirational quotes by Swami Vivekananda. Strong words but true words. Now sit in a quiet place, close your eyes and think about all the persons and things that generate negative vibrations, stress and unhappiness in you or make you feel weak. Make a list of all those persons and things and try to reject them as poison. At first you may not be convinced about this approach, but when you start implementing, you will be surprised how much it is in your own control to prevent unhappiness. While you reject the things that make you weak and unhappy, You must also strengthen the things that make you feel strong and happy.

Peace Of Mind

Once Buddha was walking from one town to another town with a few of his followers. This was in the initial days. While they were travelling, they happened to pass a lake. They stopped there and Buddha told one of his disciples, “I am thirsty. Do get me some water from that lake there.” The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it, he noticed that some people were washing clothes in the water and, right at that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy, very turbid. The disciple thought, “How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink!” So he came back and told Buddha, “The water in there is very muddy. I don’t think it is fit to drink.” After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink. The disciple obediently went back to the lake. This time he found that the lake had absolutely clear water in it. The mud had settled down and the water

Soar Like An Eagle

Did you know that an eagle can foresee when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? Instead of hiding, the eagle will fly to some high point and wait for the winds to come.  When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind can pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle soars above it. The eagle does not escape or hide from the storm, Instead it uses storm to lift it higher. It rises on the stormy winds while others dread. When the storm of life and challenges hit us, we can rise above them and soar like the eagle which ride the winds of the storm. Don't be afraid of the storms or the challenges in your life. Use it to lift you higher in your life.

The Secret To Success

Once a young man asked the wise man, Socrates, the secret to success. Socrates patiently listened to the man's question and told him to meet him near the river the next morning for the answer. The next morning Socrates asked the young man to walk with him towards the river. As they went in the river, the water got up to their neck. But to the young man's surprise Socrates ducked him into the water.  The young man struggled to get out of water, but Socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue. Socrates pulled the man's head out of the water. The young man gasps and took a breath of air. Socrates asked, " What did you want the most when your head was in the water?" The young man replied, "Air." Socrates said, "That is the secret to success. When you want success as badly as you wanted the air while you were in the water, then you will get it. There is no other secret." "A burning desire is the starting point

Fate Is Inked with Thought's Pen

The world is the great gymnasium where we come to make ourselves strong. The power of thoughts, courage in the heart is only acquired through your name. Dis-illusioned flowers wither, but keep blooming once again. Fill the brain with high thoughts, highest ideals, place them day and night before you, and out of that will come great work. Fate is inked with thought's pen. But fear of losing path still remains immersed in us. Our duty is to encourage everyone in their struggle to live up to their own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the truth.Purity, Patience and Perseverance are the three essentials to success. We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves. If we are now has been the result of our past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act. In the life called stage,

The Power of Encouragement

Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the famous 19th-century poet and artist, was once approached by an elderly man. The old fellow had some sketches and drawings that he wanted Rossetti to look at and tell him if they were any good, or if they at least showed potential talent. Rossetti looked them over carefully. After the first few, he knew that they were worthless, showing not the least sign of artistic talent. But Rossetti was a kind man, and he told the elderly man as gently as possible that the pictures were without much value and showed little talent. He was sorry, but he could not lie to the man. The visitor was disappointed, but seemed to expect Rossetti's judgment. He then apologized for taking up Rossetti's time, but would he just look at a few more drawings - these done by a young art student. Rossetti looked over the second batch of sketches and immediately became enthusiastic over the talent they revealed. "These," he said, "oh, these are good. This youn

The true story of a Belize oil team is an inspiring example of the power of the human mind to bring forth resources. The directors of Belize Natural Energy Limited were trained by the eminent Dr. Tony Quinn, who specializes in Humanistic Physiology training. With Dr. Quinn's mind power training, the directors were confident that their mental picture of Belize being a successful oil producing country would be achieved. They took a brave step forward to drill for oil in Spanish Lookout, and in one short year their dream and vision became a reality. Belize Natural Energy Limited discovered oil of the highest quality, in abundant flows where fifty other companies had failed to find any. Belize has become an oil-producing country because an extraordinary team of people believed in the unlimited power of their mind. Nothing is limited—not resources or anything else. It is only limited in the human mind. When we open our minds to the unlimited creative power, we will call forth abun

Our Happiness lies in the Happiness of other people

When I was in school, Our principal sometimes used to conduct some motivational seminars from different motivators. Those are my favorite days because I learnt a lot and I still remember their seminars. I would like to share one of my favorite activities. We are almost 100 students. Our motivator was giving seminar and Suddenly he stopped and decided to do a group activity. He started giving us a balloon each and asked to write our names on the balloon we got with a marker pen. He collected all our balloons and put them in another room. Surprisingly he asked us to find our own balloon within 5 minutes. We all rushed colliding and pushing each other into that room and started finding our name. At the end of 5 minutes no one could find their own balloon. All of us were with empty hands. Then he asked us to pick a random balloon each and give it to the person whose name was written on it. Within few minutes everyone has our own balloon. Then he said, "Exactly this is happening in

How to Win over the situation silently

Once a Swamiji was travelling in a train in America. In the same compartment three girls were travelling who made fun of looks of swamiji and tried to annoy and disrupt him. They giggled, passed comments and tried hard to irritate him, poke fun of him. Girls thought that swamiji didn't know English. They saw a precious wrist watch on swamiji's wrist that was gifted by his devotee and they asked swamiji to give that watch otherwise they will complain the cops that swamiji tried to physically harass them. But swamiji didn't reply. He just made a hand gesture that he couldn't hear, he is deaf. Again he made gesture that whatever you want to say please write it on a piece of paper. So those girls wrote and handed it to swamiji..and now swamiji spoke, "Please call the cops I want to register a complaint." The girls were awestruck and got silent.

The power of concentration

While Swami Vivekananda was in America, some boys were standing on the bridge and trying to shoot eggshells that were floating in the water. They failed almost at every try, Vivekananda who was watching them from a distance went close to them, took the gun and fired twelve times, and every time he fired, he hit the eggshell. The inquisitive boys asked him how he did it? He replied, " Whatever you are doing put your whole mind on it. If you are shooting, your mind should be only on the target. Then you will never miss. If you are learning lessons, think only on lesson. In my country boys are taught to do this."

You may not change the whole but even a part makes a difference

An old man walked across a beach until he came across a young boy throwing something into the breaking waves. Upon closer inspection, the old man could see that the boy was tossing stranded starfish from the sandy beach, back into the ocean. "What are you doing young man?" "If the starfish are still on the beach when the sun rises, they will die." the boy answered.  "This is ridiculous. There are thousands of miles of beach and millions of starfish. It doesn't matter how many you throw in; you can't make a difference." the old man said. At this, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water he said," It made a difference for that one."

The Powerful Process (The Pruning Shears of Revision)

Most of the people look at their current state of affairs and they say, " This is who I am." That's not who you are. That's who you were. Let's say for instance you don't have enough money in your bank account, or you don't have relationship that you want, or your health and fitness are not up to par. That's not who you are; That's the residual outcome of your past thoughts and actions. So we are constantly living in this residual, if you will, of the thoughts and actions we have taken in the past. When you look at your current state of affairs and define yourself by that, then you doom yourself to have nothing more than the same in the future. " All that we are is a result of what we have thought" I would like to share a process with you that came from the great teacher Neville Goddard in a lecture, entitled "The Pruning shears of Revision." This process has had a profound effect on my life. He recommends at the end of ev

The best way to Heal is Belief

Beliefs do not change, We change. Most of our beliefs are generalizations about our experiences. They are based on our interpretations of painful and pleasure experiences. Beliefs are the power to create and destroy you too. Drugs are always not necessary but belief may help for recovery. All the personal breakthroughs begin with a change of belief.  Pain is the ultimate tool for shifting a belief.(No pain- No gain) Change is inevitable, Growth is optional

A peaceful mind can think better than a worked up mind

There once was a farmer who discovered that he had lost his watch in the barn. It was no ordinary watch because it had a sentimental value for him. After searching high and low among the hay for a long while; he gave up and enlisted the help of a group of children playing outside the barn. He promised that the person who found it would be rewarded. Hearing this, the children hurried inside the barn, went through and around the entire stack of hay but still could not find the watch. Just when the farmer was about to give up looking for his watch, a little boy went up to him and asked to be given another chance. The farmer looked at him and thought,"Why not? After all, this kid looks sincere enough." So the farmer sent the little boy back in the barn. After a while the little boy came out with the watch in his hand! The farmer was both happy and surprised and so he asked the boy how he succeeded where the rest had failed. The boy replied," I did nothing but sit

Don't let your circumstances change you

"There was a blind women who hated herself purely because she could not see. The only person she loved was her boyfriend, as he was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, then she would marry him. One day someone donated a pair of eyes to her- now she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her loving boyfriend asked her, ' Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The woman was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and wrote a short note to her saying: 'Just take care of my eyes, dear.'"

Focus on the good things in life

" Two friends were walking through the desert. At one stage in their journey, they had an argument and one friend slapped the other one on the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything he wrote on the sand, 'Today my best friend slapped me on the face.' They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to have a wash. The one who had been slapped got stuck in a mire and started drowning, but his friend saved him. After he had recovered from his shock, he wrote on a stone, ' Today my best friend saved my life.' The friend who slapped and saved his best friend asked him, 'After I hurt you, you wrote on the sand and now, you wrote on stone, why?' The other friend replied, 'When someone hurts us we should write it down on sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it on stone where no wind can ever erase it.'"

Happiness: Fake it until you make it

It’s hard to crack a smile when things are going wrong. But a 2003 study by Simone Schnall and David Laird showed that if you fake a smile, you can actually trick your brain into thinking you’re happy by releasing feel-good hormones called endorphins. This might seem a little wacky at first. If smiling for no reason feels too strange, then find a reason to smile. You could smile at the prospect of your smile itself making someone else feel happier. They might smile back at you, giving you a genuine reason to keep your smile alive. In fact, our entire body and physiology can affect our thoughts and feelings. By changing our outer state, we can change our inner state. It may also surprise you to learn that the vast majority of messages that we give other people are non-verbal, such as facial expressions, gestures or even the way we hold ourselves while we’re talking. For this reason, it’s important that we try to think about the messages we’re conveying with our body language.

The stepping stones

It is said that failures are the stepping stones to success. How true it is. Many famous people have proved that with will power and determination, we can achieve even the almost impossible. Let me give some real life examples. There was a girl called Wilma Rudolph. When she was a small child, she was struck by a viral fever and she lost the use of her legs. She was paralysed. The doctors said that she could never walk. But the girl didn't give up. With her mother's encouragement and her belief in God, she took her first step when she was nine. Then she took part in her school running race. What do you expect?! Yes, she came last, way behind the others. But she kept going. Finally one day she won the race. Then she graduated and went to the university. She told her coach that she want to take part in Olympics. The coach didn't shoo her away. Instead he said that with God's help and her will power she could succeed. She trained with patience and dedication. The rest is

You are Unique

All of us have some role models. For some it might be Shah Rukh Khan or Hrithik Roshan. For others it might be cricketer Dhoni or Rohit Sharma. Very often we hope we can be like someone else. But we never realize that God has made each of us to be unique. Each person is different from the other. Have you seen a bison and a giraffe. A bison is made in such a way that their natural inclination is to look down. Their necks are so heavy that it makes it difficult for them to look up, In contrast giraffes are designed by God in such a way that makes looking up easy. The two were created by same God but with distinctly different looks and purposes. Giraffes eat leaves from high branches and bisons eat grass from the field below. We realize that God has made each one of us for a purpose. We have our own talents and skills. We must try to utilize them to the full potential rather than try to ape somebody else. Every individual is special and unique in God's eyes.

Don’t judge people before you truly know them

A  24 year old boy seeing out from the train's window shouted.. "Dad, look trees are going behind!" Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old's childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed.. "Dad, look the clouds are running with us!" The couple could not resist and said to the old man.. "Why don't you take your son to a good doctor?" The old man smiled and said.." I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today." Every single person on the planet has a story. Don't judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you.

Best example to understand "Positive- Negative"

Have you seen the negative of a photo film? In that, you can see the outlines of figures. Areas that should be in white, are in black and vice versa. That's why it is called a negative. It is processed with chemicals in a dark room lit with only a tiny red bulb. When we see positive print everything becomes clear to us. Similarly, You should take your life positively. That means you should practice the process. The troubles and difficulties you encounter are the chemicals and your hope is the tiny red bulb. We should not allow the problems to belie our hope. We should set our goal. By adopting a positive outlook we should enjoy the following benefits: Decrease in pressure No meaningless fears Increase in confidence "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"

Change your perception to become successful

T here lived a giant-like man in a village. He used to harass the villagers since he was a 'heavily built' man. Nobody dared to protest against him. Once a shepherd boy came to the village and observed his misdeeds. " Why don't you all join hands and fight with him", the boy asked the villagers. " Don't you observe him? See, how heavily built he is! It's is no joke beating him", they said. "He is not too big to hit, he is too big to miss", the boy motivated the villagers unknowingly. His words inspired the villagers with courage and they could easily kill him. He was the same heavily-built giant-like man. There was a change in their perception, which led them to the success.

Delete these statements in your mind

Following are the statements many students make. You may be one of them. But I feel you need to change your thoughts to be successful. Just delete these negative statements from your mind then you will become a great achiever.  "I want to study, But cannot." " I may not be able to pass this examination." " I was born in a poor family." " My parents are not educated." " My stars are not good/favorable." " I get sleep when I open the book." " My teachers are angry with me." " My parents nag me 'study and study' always." " I am losing concentration." " My parents love my sibling more than me." " I studied upto my tenth class in my mother tongue." " Urban students are more intelligent." " There is nobody in my house to guide me." " I couldn't go to any coaching centre." " I lost my father/mother in my childhood."

Let us perfect the means

"We are to take care of ourselves-that much we can do-and give up attending to others for a time. Let us perfect the means;the end will take care of itself. For the world can be good and pure, only if our lives are good and pure. It is an effect, and we are the means. Therefore, Let us purify ourselves. Let us make ourselves perfect."

The Word And The Thought

"Each thought is a little hammer blow on the lump of iron which our bodies are, manufacturing out of it what we want it to be. The word and the thought are inseparable. The external part of one and the same thing is what we call word, and the internal part is what we call thought."

Dynamic Healing

I have found that when communicating, there are three key steps to gaining the cooperation of the body: Approach your body with genuine compassion, understanding that it is made up of conscious cells who experience emotions. Build trust by engaging your body in mental conversations about your desire for the two of you to cooperate and overcome the ailment. Allow changes in the conversation by using different thoughts and words that elicit spontaneous elevated emotions. From my experience, the above guidelines are necessary to achieve dynamic healing responses in the body.
